Filter plants are important for biological balance in the pond. They are especially useful in swamp areas, where they help keep the water clean. You have two types of filter plants: loose filter plants and those in pond baskets. Loose filter plants you place directly in the pond substrate and are good for large swamp filters. Filter plants in pond baskets can be placed either in or outside the substrate. These are often the first choice for smaller plant filters or containers. Thereby, low-growing oxygen plants are a must in the plant filter. Not only do they provide more oxygen to the water, but they also help prevent algae growth. Because they grow low, they cover the shallow water and reduce light, which helps prevent algae growth. In short, for a pond with biological balance, it is important to place both filter plants and low-growing oxygen plants in the right place.
