You can simply place the clams in the pond. They may float at first because they need to acclimate. Give them a few days and they will naturally sink to the bottom where they will perform their filtering function.
This depends on the size of your pond and the concentration of algae present. For a pond with a volume of up to 2000 liters, an average of 10 pond mussels are required. These can collectively purify 500 - 2000 liters of water per day.
