6 Care Instructions for Mini Plants
Find out how to keep your mini plants vibrant and healthy with our helpful care tips. Mini plants bring a piece of natural beauty in a compact size, ideal for small spaces or as a sophisticated green touch on your desk or windowsill.
1. Placement of Mini Plants
Put your mini plants in a place with enough indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight and proximity to heat sources such as heaters can be harmful. These little evergreens prefer a constant temperature between 15 and 25°C for optimal growth.
2. Proper Watering
Mini plants in small pots dry out faster than larger plants. To prevent drying out, place the plants regularly (about once a week, depending on humidity and temperature) in a saucer with water so the soil can soak up the water from below. Leave them for about 15 minutes so that the soil absorbs enough water. Then check to see if the soil is saturated by feeling it.
3. Preventing Dehydration
Watch for signs of desiccation such as drooping leaves or soil coming off the edges of the pot. These signs indicate the need for prompt watering. Remember, soil in small pots can be so dry that water seeps through without absorbing. Be patient and make sure the water is well absorbed.
4. Humidity and Temperature
Mini plants are sensitive to changes in their environment. Maintain stable humidity and temperature to minimize stress to the plantlets. Consider using a humidifier in drier months or placing the plantlets where they are protected from direct heat or drafts.
5. Light and Growth
Rotate the pots regularly to ensure even growth and prevent plants from leaning too much toward one light source. This helps maintain compact and healthy growth.
6. Additional Nutrition
Consider giving a diluted, liquid plant food during the growing season (spring and summer) to give your mini plants an extra boost. Always follow package directions to avoid overfeeding.
By following these care steps, your mini plants will stay beautiful and strong and add green to your space. They are small, but their presence is big!

Frequently asked questions about mini plants
It is best to take the mini plants out of the package immediately after receiving them and place them in a bright spot and water them occasionally. Did you also order moss? You can put the moss in the refrigerator with the bag and all, then it will stay nice. At the time of giving as a gift, you can put the plants and moss back in the packaging.
In an ecosystem, there are plants that are usually accustomed to high humidity and can live without extra food. These include ferns, carnivorous plants and houseplants.
At vdvelde.com you can order small potted plants in small quantities, while for larger quantities from 200 pieces and up you can go to GreenGifts.nl. We offer a wide range of mini succulents, cacti, ferns and houseplants. These plants are available with or without pots, and starting from 200 pieces it is even possible to have the plants delivered with a personalized sign.
Would you like to order 100 mini plants? This can easily be done via our website. Please note that personalization is unfortunately not possible at these quantities.
Plants that stay small are air plants (Tillandsia), Mini cacti and succulents (Succulents). The species that we pick fresh daily in our nursery are small staying species of about 5cm.
If your succulent drops a lot of leaves or if the leaves turn discolored, this may indicate too much water or not enough light. If your plant gets too big and you decide to prune, it is best to cut off a piece of the top of the stem.
We always pack the mini plants per 5 in a blister so that they are well protected during transport. Unfortunately, we cannot pack them loose because there is a risk that the plants will not arrive nicely.
Our mini houseplants are suitable for planting in a closed ecosystem. Our mini succulents and mini cacti are not suitable for a closed plant terrarium.
