Mini succulents are beautiful low-maintenance plants that fit into almost any interior. A succulent is a plant that has the ability to store water and can therefore go without water for a long time. You can think of them as the less prickly family of the cactus. Succulents come in many different varieties and are very decorative.

10 expert tips for taking care of your succulent plant
Whether you're a newcomer to succulents or a lover of green plants, we can all learn to take better care of these small houseplants. We give you the best care tips for making succulents grow and flourish.
1. Watering succulents
It is best to give the mini plants a lot of water at once. In their natural environment, they are often watered during huge downpours. Make sure no water remains in the pot afterwards, as this is bad for the roots. Then let the soil dry out completely before you water again. This is about once a month in summer and once every 2 months in winter. As with all other plants, rainwater is recommended over tap water for cacti and succulents. Tap water contains too much lime which does not benefit the health of the plant. Also, always make sure the water is at room temperature. During the summer months, the plant requires more water than during the period of winter dormancy. Keep in mind, however, that if the plant is near the heater it can dry out faster.
2. Pitch
Although these little plants are not demanding in terms of location, they do best in a bright spot such as the windowsill. Their natural habitat also tends to be one with many hours of sunlight each day. But don't put the plants in bright sunlight behind a window all day. Like other plants, these plants can burn.
3. Fertilization
Succulents also benefit from occasional extra nutrition. For this purpose, special nutrition has been developed that is completely tailored to the succulent. An occasional cap of nutrition with the water does wonders for these plants!
4. Nutrition

Succulents are not a champion fast grower, but new soil does these little plants good. However, always use soil specifically designed for cacti and succulents. When the plant has just been repotted, extra nutrition is not necessary for a while. For the first few weeks, the plant gets that from the new soil. The best time to repot a succulent is in spring (March/April). Choose a pot that is just a little larger than the current pot. Never repot a succulent while it is in bloom.
5. Not enough water
Despite the fact that succulents have the name of needing very little water, this is not entirely true. In summer, the growing season of Succulents, these little plants do need regular watering. Preferably give the plants rain water once a week. Do allow the soil to become completely dry before watering again.
6. Too much water
When Succulents are given too much water, root rot can occur. When in doubt, always give less water than you would initially think. A useful trick is to submerge the plant with the inner pot and then let it drain well, so that no water remains in the pot. Then make sure, that the soil is completely dried out, before watering again.
7. Too many plants in too small a pot
Since this plant lives off the air, it is important that the air plant gets enough fresh air (adequate ventilation). So make sure you do not place the plantlets in a closed ecosystem.
8. Provide the right soil

Succulents need a different potting soil than the "normal" houseplant. Succulents originally come from a climate with poor soil, which drains water well. Ordinary potting soil is therefore not suitable for Succulents. Always put these plants in special cactus and succulent soil.
9. Stand too dark
Succulents love sunlight. In their natural habitat, they are always in a sunny spot. If they are in a too dark place indoors, this can be seen in the way they grow. The Succulents will then start to form long thin offshoots towards the light. If this is the case, move the plant to a lighter location.
10. Succulent plant cuttings
Succulents are done this way: Succulents are always pricked with a clean knife. A single leaf of a succulent can already be pricked. The leaf can easily be removed from the mother plant by carefully twisting or cutting it off. To get a somewhat larger plant in advance, you can also cut off a piece of stem with a clean knife. Let the wound dry before putting it back into the soil. Then insert the cutting into new soil specially designed for cacti and succulents. Do not put the pot in direct sunlight, but rather in a bright place. Do not water the new plant until the cutting is rooted.
Some succulents, such as Aloe Vera, for example, cannot be propagated in this way. These plants themselves form small offshoots next to the mother plant. These can be placed separately in a pot.
