Tip van SimonDit eiland maakt in één seizoen een volle, levende oever midden op je water. Bind de eilanden aan elkaar vast en druk de 48 pluggen zelf in de gaten. Laat het eiland aan de zonzijde van je vijver drijven, daar groeien de planten het snelst. De wortels groeien vanzelf door de kokosmat het water in en vormen daar een natuurlijk filter dat je water helder houdt en volop leven aantrekt.
About this product
Deze set maakt in één keer een volle vijverrand. Je koppelt de drie eilanden met de meegeleverde draad eenvoudig aan elkaar tot één groot drijvend plantenveld, of je legt ze los verspreid over de vijver. Elk eiland drijft zelfstandig op zijn eigen kern, dus je hebt geen bak of rand nodig en laat ze gewoon te water. De plantgaten zitten al klaar, dus je drukt de pluggen er zelf in en bepaalt zelf de indeling. Daarna wortelen de planten vanzelf door de kokosmat het water in en groeit alles in een paar maanden uit tot een volle oever. Het onderhoud is minimaal, want de beplanting haalt zijn voeding rechtstreeks uit het water.
What makes this product special
Deze set brengt drie functies samen en doet dat op drie eilanden tegelijk, waardoor je meteen goed effect hebt op een grotere vijver. De filterplanten (Iris pseudacorus, Acorus calamus ‘Variegatus’ en Myriophyllum brasiliensis) nemen voedingsstoffen op en houden het water op natuurlijke wijze helder. De Watermunt (Mentha aquatica) verspreidt een frisse geur die muggen minder aantrekkelijk vinden, terwijl de dichte begroeiing libellen en vogels aantrekt die muggen wegvangen. De sierplanten (Snoekkruid, Zwanenbloem en de bonte Moerasanemoon) zorgen voor kleur en bloei van mei tot oktober. Onder water vormen de wortels dichte slierten die als een natuurlijk filter werken, het water zuiveren en tegelijk schuilplek bieden aan vissen, kikkers en insecten.
Quality and origin
De eilanden zijn opgebouwd uit een natuurlijke kokosvezelmat op een drijvende kern, afgewerkt met een stevig omhullend gaas dat alles keurig op zijn plek houdt. Het geheel is licht en sterk en gaat jaren mee op het water. De pluggen komen rechtstreeks uit onze eigen kwekerij, waar we al sinds 1986 vijvervriendelijke planten telen. De soorten zijn zorgvuldig gekozen omdat ze goed samengaan, zodat de set niet één seizoen mooi is maar elk jaar voller en levendiger wordt.

No matter what I tried, the water in my pond just wouldn't clear up. After exchanging a few emails, I decided to order this complete kit, though to be honest, I wasn't very confident it would work.

Last year, I had a landscaper install a plant filter in my swimming pond, and he recommended lava rock and some plants from the local garden center. Unfortunately, it all went wrong; the plants died one by one, and I ended up with an algae infestation.
After contacting vdvelde, I was advised to replace the lava rock with Pond substrate to order some additional plants. Now, a few months later, the plants are growing well, and my filter is finally free of algae.
