An effective wetland filter always consists of two types of plants, each with its own function:
Low-oxygen plants
These plants provide oxygen to the water. Oxygen is essential for biological decomposition and prevents algae from taking over. They absorb nutrients before algae can utilize them.
Tall marsh plants
These plants act as powerful natural filters. Through their roots, they absorb pollutants, nutrients, and sediment. This helps clean the water and allows the ecological balance to be restored.
It is precisely the combination of tall and short plants that ensures lasting results. Using only oxygenating plants or only marsh plants is not enough.
