A popular and according to Simon also the aquatic plant for the pond is the yellow lis(Iris pseudacorus), this is a yellow aquatic plant that can grow about 80 cm high. The special thing about this pond plant is that the roots of the Iris filter nitrates and nitrites from the water. The plant absorbs waste products and ensures that the water becomes clear. The yellow iris is also a hardy pond plant.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as special aquatic plants against algae. It's all about a combination of the right pond plants that makes algae growth less likely. Water lilies keep the sun out of the water so algae is less likely to grow. Oxygen plants in baskets are often used in less deep areas of the pond to also prevent algae growth. Simon mentions the right combination and amount of plants you need per square meter in his pond planting plan.
